DFFP

D = DISTILL

F = FLOW

F = FEEDBACK

P = PROBE

DFFP is the 21st century update by inventor Thomas Lee Johnson to PDCA or plan do check act cycle created by Edward Deming in 1950.

The ideal Individual or Team pursues Friction Less Enterprise on a continual basis. The Friction Less Enterprise leverages the Distill Feedback Proble Cycle. The Distill Feedback Probe Cycle (DFFP) looks like this:

DFFP is compelling because it's ferociously customer-centric and diminishes multiple frictions. DFFP is structured to continually address and overcome the Seven Wastes of Information Age, [Flux, Inventory, Volume, Errata, Waiting, Mismatch, Defects (FIVEWMD)]. The DFFP cycle requires decisions. Indecision breaks the DFFP cycle and perpetuates organizational paralysis. Indecision accumulates into indecision debris and creates hidden significant, hidden wastes. We mentioned the Maze earlier. Only an ideal Individual or Team, Cluster or Portfolio can really break Industrial Age habits of waste. That is why Agile Immersive suggests using the Ideal Construct along with the DFFP cycle. The decisiveness of the Friction Less Enterprise creates clear pivot moments that shift enterprise into new, ever-evolving delivery patterns. DFFP contrasts with the Plan Do Check Act (PDCA) cycle in several crucial ways.
